CAMPSITE # 59 - Coles Bay, Freycinet National Park TAS

We had driven through Coles Bay on route to our big Dick-Smith-Meeting walk the day beforehand and we liked what we saw! So, we made tracks to the visitors centre to tee up one campsite for the four of us in our two Troopies.

The one thing we're finding tough with booking in camping grounds is the fact that we don't fall under any specific categories. Because we had two cars, we weren't allowed to book one site and because we weren't pitching a tent but sleeping in our cars, we technically weren't allowed to book a tent site. So, according to the Freycinet National Park people, because we didn't adhere to their Health & Safety regulations, we weren't technically allowed to stay there. Surely, with the abundance of Wicked Vans and Backpacker Vans out there they've come to these cross roads beforehand. Somehow, we managed to give puppy dog eyes & our sob stories to the nice lady there and she waved her magic wand for us and sorted us out with two tent sites, even though we only used one. And we're so thankful she did...

For the first time EVER, I saw the sunset over the ocean. There were a few mountains that rudely stood in the way but I'm still going to count it ...

The boys worked wonders on the end of the fishing lines... catching a whopping 4 cods in less than 2 hours... and gees they were of a good size too!! Tom caught a squid as well but then he lost his squid lure. Everytime he buys a new piece of fishing tackle, I get an ice cream.. that's our little deal. But little does he realise, I totally get the best prize... I score an ice cream AND I get to eat the fish...

Tommy workin' those binoculars...

Jess & I inspecting the geology...

The good news? You don't have to wait until WA to see sunset over the ocean again - there's an uninterrupted view over the ocean from the Adelaide beaches!

Happy travels!!
